the overhead fan in my room for cooling comfort, but that was not
doing it anymore, so I opened a window last night. This was a
brilliant decision as I was woken up at 4AM by a storm that a
Hollywood producer would make a movie out of. It was as if Poseidon
and Zeus were in some sort of epic thumb-war right outside of my
second story window.
On a related note- If you are trying to dry a pair a shoes, don't put
them out on the back deck to quickly soak up the sunshine. As soon as
you put them on the back deck and forget and go about your life, the
shoes will absolutely be rained on 3 or 4 more times in the next
several hours.
But with all of the rain and the wet and the loud noises at 4AM, I
wish you could have been with me on my run this morning. I cannot
begin to tell you how great the earth smelt as I brushed down those
old and familiar paths. It was the smell of freshly cut grass blended
perfectly with honeysuckles. It was one of those mornings where the
earth gave one of your senses a gift and you knew that this whole
thing about new life and resurrection and springtime were somehow all
very true, even if you cannot always feel that they are true.
