There are gifts in this life, things that just come from nowhere. The effect that we get from receiving these gifts is called "Wonder".
I slept at my parent's house in Tyrone, GA last night. She is the small suburban town that desperately wants to stay small but also really loves the great deals at Target.
I step out of my car at about 12:30 in the morning, I look up at the sky, and there are stars everywhere. I'm talking about the Big Dipper, the Little Dipper.... We have constellations up in my sky over my house tonight.
Beautiful. When you live in the city-you have to get lost in the glory of the sky when its clear and lit up like that. Wonder, like that, becomes rare.
So I'm looking up. Literally marveling, gazing-if you will, at the stars of the Southern Sky.
And then... Directly in my line of sight- A shooting star.
It was not one of those weak and distant stars either. This was bright and bold and on a mission. It was close. She probably landed somewhere outside of Marietta.
Every now and again-we need a little shot of Wonder. A boost of the preternatural. It was a like voice that shot through the back of my mind, softly whispering "Remember."
I think you know what I'm talking about.
So if you were looking up into those great stars "swirling in the blue like jazz", at that time-and you saw what I saw..
Then I guess you can say that you and I had a little moment.
note: that quote is DM.
