The Etiquette of the Sneeze

This is NOT from a Daily Update. Just for you, faithful blog reader.

Here is the deal when it comes to sneezing.

If you are in a public place and someone should chance upon the misfortune of sneezing, let me assure you that you are not failing them if you do not say "Bless you." I trust that their health will continue on in the state that it is in, at least until the patient has sought out proper medical help, or Congress passes adequate health care reform.

This is not a race to be the first person to say, "Bless you." You WILL NOT receive another "jewel in your crown" for blessing someone who sneezes. Not if you are the first, the second, nor the 44th.

Also. If you are in a group of, say, 50 people, and you are the only one who does not say, "Bless you", then fear not. You are not, in fact, endangering yourself with the fires of hell.

Here is the rule, people: Only one "Bless you" from one person will do, thank you very much.

And only once. If you happen upon a violent multi-sneezer, then I suggest you refer them to a good allergist. Let me emphatically state that only one "bless you" suffices in covering the poor, afflicted soul.

Tell your friends.
