The Village Cafe

Dining With Style

By: Jason Tatum

Finding a great place to dine in Fayetteville is not a difficult task. Our city has a plethora of options for all types of appetites. When it comes to fine dining in Fayetteville, most residents may be more inclined to look north to Atlanta to find a cozy, independent restaurant with a world-class menu. The truth is that locals have no need to break their gasoline budget to find upscale dining. For the finest setting and menu in the area, we need only to go to The Village Café, locally owned and operated right here in town since 1990.
More than just a place to eat out, The Village Café offers an experience in fine dining. The lights are soft. The booths are cozy. The tablecloths and linen napkins are crisp. The Village Café’s dining room is tastefully decorated and is free of the clutter of loud, bright, televisions broadcasting the night’s sporting events. The Village Café is a place for connecting with the people at your table. It is a place for long conversations and long laughs.
To add to the experience, The Village Café hosts live music every Friday and Saturday evening. Even when the band is not live, the background music that is always playing is soft and compliments the experience of dining with The Café. Truly, just walking through the doors of this family owned restaurant gives you the authentic peace and relaxation reminiscent of the old-world establishments that line the streets of Europe.
The menu at The Village Café boats a unique mix of American favorites, cooked and seasoned to perfection. The menu is full of options ranging from steaks to seafood to pasta. Customers love the Pecan Grilled Chicken, the Salmon Maison, and the excellently prepared sandwiches and salads. Instead of an average night dining on the usual assortment of fast food burgers and French fries, why not sit down to something truly unique and delicious, such as the Grouper Ponchartrain? The tender fish is topped with a fantastic Creole sauce that, along with the shrimp, truly compliments each other.
Options for lunch and dinner at The Village Café are spectacular. Lunch offers an array of great starters such as Louisiana Crab Cake or Tomato Fondue Rustica. The salads are unique and fresh; and the main dishes, whether you choose the Crescent City Chicken, the Roast Pork Loin, or the Char-Grilled Chopped Sirloin, are sure to please your appetite for a great meal. For dinner, choose the Chicken Savannah, Shrimp Scampi Picatta, or one of the many tasty options, straight from the grill. For more of a seasonal dish, The Village Café offers throughout the month of October it’s Octoberfest Platter. The platter comes with bratwurst, knockwurst, kielbasa and sliced pork loin over braised red cabbage. Clearly, the Octoberfest Platter is a unique and tasty option that cannot be found elsewhere in Fayette County.
The Village Café has a long and storied history in Fayette County. Opening in 1990, the Café moved to its current location, next to Movies 10 in Banks Station, in 1996. Recognizing the spectacular success of the restaurant, hospitality veteran Tom Shaver purchased The Village Café in 2003. Originally from California, Tom has managed hotels from coast to coast, including establishments in Florida, Texas, Alaska, Connecticut, Michigan and Illinois. Drawing from over 35 years of experience, it is truly evident why The Village Café continues to be the best option for fine dining in Fayetteville, year after year.
If you are having a party, a banquet or a meeting, the private dining room at The Village Café is perfect to accommodate your needs. The room can hold up to 60 people and their catering services can serve groups of up to 500 people.
Weather you have a meeting with a business client at lunch or a romantic date for dinner, The Village Café’s cozy atmosphere and delicious menu is the place to go on the Southside.
The Village Café is open for lunch Monday through Friday at 11:30AM to 2:00PM and dinner Monday through Thursday 5PM to 8:30PM, 9:30PM on Friday and Saturday. Closed Sunday. Located in Bank’s Station, you can reach The Village Café at 770.460.9449 or on the web at www.villagecafega.com.
