A Restaurant AD/Review

Surf’s Up in PTC
By Jason Tatum

Everyone loves a great burrito. There is nothing quite like having a nice lunch wrapped in a flour tortilla and a handful of chips with salsa. There certainly are no shortages of places that serve this great meal around town, but none match the style and flavor of Gezzo’s Surf and Grille.
Serving a wide variety of burritos, tacos, and other tasty staples of the West Coast diet, Gezzo’s is not your average burrito stand. The menu takes old standards and adds a Caribbean flavor that is unique and satisfying. A signature item on the menu, the Jamaican Jerk Chicken, is described as “bold and spicy” and is the perfect option for island fare in Fayette County.
Along with the sea-minded menu, it is the restaurant’s love for outdoor adventure and activity that set Gezzo’s apart from the pack. Says Hsu, “The owners believe in a healthy and active lifestyle.” Gezzo’s all in house prepared items and use of only fresh ingredients demonstrate this credo.
In my recent lunch outing at Gezzo’s I had the famed Jamican Jerk Chicken Burrito and was initially impressed with the staff’s friendly service, the array of endless options to build the burrito just the way I like it, and the great price. While they specialize in Southern California’s take on Mexican, Gezzo’s fits right in with a perfect sweet tea. “I had the Carne Asada burrito, and I loved it,” says Luke Batchelor, a recent diner at Gezzo’s. Luke goes on to praise Gezzo’s: “What really sets Gezzo’s apart is the variety of tortilla options. I chose the tomato-basil tortilla, and next time I think I’ll try the spinach-herb.” Diners can also have the option of a whole-wheat tortilla or the traditional flour. Gezzo’s Surf and Grille truly has something for everyone.
Gezzo’s Surf and Grille is all about surfing. If you’re looking to find a great trip or meet up with other surf enthusiast, check out the Atlanta Surf Posse, a group that bills itself as the first surfer community in Atlanta and is sponsored by Gezzo’s.
Hsu believes that Gezzo’s laid back and comfortable atmosphere has something for everyone and is quite affordable with prices ranging from $3.99 to $6.99. A fun and vibrant dining area plus a great variety of quality choices is what Hsu was going for when the idea for Gezzo’s Surf and Grille was born. “Every meal is prepared to the customer’s exact specifications.” says Hsu. “It is a fun “build your own” setup.” and the patrons agree. Hsu has noticed that Gezzo’s gets lots of regulars on a weekly basis, but has even seen some customers coming in for both lunch and dinner with increasing frequency. Certainly, this West Coast establishment has found a good home in Peachtree City.
The most popular items on the menu are the Jerk Chicken Burrito, Shrimp Quesadillas, Fish Tacos and the Carne Asada. If you’re looking for a unique catering experience, Gezzo’s Surf and Grille wants to help. They offer a wide variety of catering options for all occasions. You can find it all, plus surfboards for sale, at Gezzo’s Surf and Grille. Gezzo’s is located at 2705 Highway 54 West, next to Best Buy. They are open daily from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM and can be reached by phone at (678) 364-6699.
